Tech Tips: View-only Google Docs

You might notice on our resume template page that the Google docs linked there are view only. If templates are meant to be available for students to edit, why are they shared this way?

Google documents on our site are available to any student – which means, if you had editing access, you would edit the same document everyone would see.

How then can you access and editable version of the document? You can save the document as a copy in your Google drive. Go to file -> make a copy (as shown below). That will let you download an editable copy you can adapt and rename.

If you’re still having issues accessing the document or need additional help with Google docs, feel free to drop by our office and we can help you out!
