Career Exploration Day is a required event for all first and second year undergraduate students who started at Augsburg in fall semesters 2023 and 2024 or spring semesters 2024 and 2025, including yourself.
Throughout the day, you’ll be able to build your career plan through three different tracks:
- Major Exploration – these sessions will introduce you to specific programs and help you explore the multiple pathways to get to your career goal.
- Career Skills and Preparation – Part of your career journey is to master the 8 top skills employers are looking for in early career talent. These sessions will give you a deep dive into one or two of these skills.
- Employer Connections – It’s important to start engaging with employers early on
All classes prior to 5pm on March 4, 2024 will be canceled to ensure that students are able to attend this event.

We are looking for innovative workshops across three primary tracks:

- Workshops that help students develop critical NACE career competencies
- Goal-setting strategies for professional development
- Career planning and self-assessment techniques
- Major Exploration Track
- Sessions exploring various academic majors and career pathways
- Insights into how academic choices connect to future career opportunities
- Guidance on linking academic planning with career goals
- Employer Connections Track
- Industry perspectives on skill development
- Networking strategies
- Insights into current job market trends and expectations
Ideal workshops will address one or more of our core event objectives:
- Counseling students on linking career goals with academic planning
- Helping students set goals for developing career skills and competencies
- Providing opportunities for meaningful faculty-student, alumni-student, and employer-student connections
- Offering timely information on financial aid, scholarships, and career resources
- Emphasizing the importance of proactive planning for academic and professional success
Workshop Proposal Guidelines:
- Duration: 45 minutes
- Interactive and engaging format preferred
- Targeted to first and second-year students
