FAQ

Most students (and their families) say their top reason for enrolling in college is to improve the student’s job prospects. However, a survey by Forage and Knit Research shared with 1,000 college students pursuing four-year degrees in 2022 found that across all four years of school, only 47% of college students felt confident or somewhat confident that they knew how to get a job after college. Career Champions aims to better prepare students and support staff, faculty, and alumni with resources and tools to integrate career exploration into the college experience.

There is also powerful data about the overall reach that faculty can have with students. Consider the table below:

Students report having more advice from faculty, namely because they interact with them more closely and more frequently than career center staff. Through supporting faculty with career resources, the Strommen can better support faculty and staff in conversations they are already having and encourage more conversations across campus as well.

  • Include career readiness competencies in syllabi to help students further understand what skills they will be gaining in your courses
  • Engage with students in career conversations and pull from Strommen resources or staff when needed
  • Attend optional events and workshops for Career Champions throughout the year
