All About Our Wildlife Conservation Internships in Zimbabwe
Pre-Veterinary Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Internship in Zimbabwe
Visit our project page to learn more
Gain hands-on experience in animal management at a pre-vet wildlife rescue and rehabilitation placement in Zimbabwe. Based in one of Africa’s oldest wildlife sanctuaries, it is great way to support your studies and to work with orphaned, sick, and misplaced animals. The center was set up in 1973 and now has 25 full-time staff. Species include leopards, lions, buffalo, monkeys, antelopes and a range of exotic birds. Wherever possible, these animals are rehabilitated and returned to their natural habitats. The animals’ weight, teeth, and size are recorded to monitor the overall well-being of animals in the area. Wildlife Research and Conservation Internship in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Visit our project page to learn more
This project is based in Victoria Falls where human-wildlife conflict remains an issue. The project team collects data on the numbers and movements of wildlife, with the aim of implementing conflict-mitigating solutions. The team also educates local school children about wildlife and they work on conservation activities to protect the local species and their habitats, such as doing snare sweeps or alien species removal.
The conservation efforts in the area are centered around predator monitoring, elephant research, giraffe research, and overall wildlife preservation and habitat conservation initiatives. The project goal is to implement a program that protects and benefits both the humans and wildlife of this African wonderland. Learn more here!
Getting University Credit
You may be able to gain university credit for your experience abroad. We recommend speaking to your study abroad advisor or academic department to learn more about your options. Many universities offer credit, and may classify our program as an internship, experiential education, a global experience or an academic experience, and here at Kaya we can work with you to meet any specific requirements your university may have.
Your institution may already be affiliated with Kaya to provide these credits, so ask a Kaya advisor for more details first!
