Unpaid remote internship or volunteer opportunity, 5-30 (flexible) hours per week and a flexible start and end dates.

Join our team of mission-driven young people from all around the United States to help amplify youth civic engagement and participate in activism on many progressive/social justice issues including climate change, racial justice, reproductive rights, and ending gun violence, and combatting voter suppression in the United States.

Since our inception, which was motivated by the crisis of the 2020 pandemic and subsequent elections, we have been engaging youth from around the country in our TurnUp remote Internship Program. We provide an experientially based program that empowers interns to become civically engaged, responsible, and educated social justice advocates. We believe that there is a strong relationship between education, inspiration, empowerment, and access that results in youth becoming civically and socially minded actors in democracy.

Benefits: Eligible to receive community service hours or course credit (if you coordinate with your school), work in teams with other young people to participate in activism and learn civics, bolster your resume, earn valuable letters of recommendation, flexible hours per week, apply anytime, eligible to win awards and prizes including the President’s Volunteer Service Award, broaden your networking scope, and hear from world renowned speakers.

Key Curriculum: Work on teams to participate in grassroots activism and advocacy on issues you care about. Research activism, advocacy, civics and social justice. Join voter registration and turnout projects. Learn about civics. All interns are supervised by our Internship Manager, Assistant Managers, and Internship Director.

Skills Developed: Communication, Collaboration, Leadership, Critical Thinking, Writing, and more.

Hours Per Week: You choose between 5 and 30+ hours.

End Date: Flexible

Application Deadline: Rolling – TurnUp will accept applications year-round until all team positions are filled.

More Internship Details: This is a great opportunity for those looking to impact change in their community, refine their activist efforts, strengthen democracy in the United States, and meet other like-minded young people! Interns will collaborate on a variety of tasks, communicate regularly, and meet virtually on a weekly basis. This is a collaborative internship where interns will develop their democratic competency. Interns participate in civic actions, organize voter registration and turnout projects in their communities, perform targeted outreach, engage in advocacy and activism, find and participate in volunteer opportunities together, attend the TurnUp Speaker Series, as well as do civic and activism related research and writing. Most importantly, they will work together to advocate for issues important to young people, fight voter suppression and boost youth voter turnout in the United States. Upon completion, interns are prepared to go forward being civically responsible and engaged activists.

About TurnUp (www.turnup.us): We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to making the world more just, fair, and equitable for all by increasing youth civic engagement and activism to strengthen our democracy. We believe that everyone should be able to access their civic and activist potential. TurnUp has registered 400,000 young voters since 2019. Forbes named TurnUp a standout non-profit.
