Fall 2026 Faculty & Staff Career Fair Guide

Fall 2026 – Career Fairs: Information for Faculty & Staff

Welcome!

We are thrilled to have you support our talented students in their career journeys. These career fairs are designed to foster meaningful conversations and build relationships that can lead to successful internships, full-time positions, and other career opportunities for students across various disciplines.

In this guide, you will find important details about the events, including schedules, tips and resources to share with students, and assignment examples to use in your classes. We believe that Augsburg’s liberal arts focus encourages students to be life-long learners and skilled communicators, regardless of where their future plans take them. We know employers particularly value these skills and abilities and we envision these fairs to be a space for deeper dialogue, where employers can introduce students to career paths they may not have previously considered. Thank you for your continued partnership and thank you for all you do to support our students!

Who Should Attend the Fairs

This year, we are actively encouraging first and second-year students to attend alongside upperclassmen. While early-stage students may not be ready for immediate internships, this offers a valuable opportunity for them to explore possibilities and begin building connections for the future.

Who can attend:

  • First years : Experience what a career fair is like, connect with employers, learn about opportunities, apply if eligible
  • Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors: Those seeking internships for spring, summer, and fall 2027
  • Graduating Seniors: Those seeking full-time entry level careers
  • Graduate students: Those looking to build connections, network, and find full-time or part-time work
  • Alumni who have graduated within the last year

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Our career fairs are open to all majors. Depending on a student’s career plans, they may choose one fair over the other or choose to attend both fairs. Students can determine what fair might be best for them to attend by viewing the list of employers on the Handshake event page for each fair. We will also provide digital lists online once employer registration is finalized.

  • We ask that you promote the fairs and encourage your students to attend, as it’s a great opportunity for your students to meet employers in person, practice communicating their skills and experiences, and reflect and connect on how what they are doing in their courses connects to what they want to do after college. Slides and marketing materials will be available in the resources for faculty section below.
  • Faculty and staff are also invited to attend the fairs themselves! It can be a great way to connect with Augsburg alumni who are attending with their employers and make employer connections for course and department opportunities.
  • We hope that having the fairs late in the afternoon will allow students to attend without class interference. However, we ask for your grace and flexibility for students who wish to attend. If you are willing, you are also invited to bring your class to the fair as part of a class activity.

The Auggie Internship & Job Fair Game Plan worksheet is available for students to research the employers they would like to talk to, prepare an elevator pitch, and know how to navigate the fair.

We will also offer sessions during our Career Fair Prep Week (Monday, September 21st – Tuesday, September 29th). These sessions include:

  • Drop-in hours in the URGO office suite
  • Elevator pitch workshop
  • CPT/OPT conversations
  • Navigating networking anxiety
  • Drop-in resume reviews
  • and more!

For a complete list of Career Fair Prep Week events, times, and locations, please refer to our promotional flyer.

Faculty and staff have access to the 2026 Career Fair Resource Folder, which includes:

  • Job fairs are an excellent opportunity for students to practice relationship building, communication, and learning how they want to present themselves in the professional world.
  • Students have the opportunity to talk about their experiences and their skills, as well as how a liberal arts education helps set them up for success.
  • It’s a great opportunity to meet employers face-to-face on campus and have their undivided attention. It can help students stand out from the crowd when they submit their application.
  • For those exploring possibilities, it’s a chance to learn about careers and companies students  have never heard of. For those exploring possibilities, it can be a great opportunity to learn about what is possible after college. It’s also a way for students to see how the skills and knowledge they’re building in the classroom and in extracurriculars connect to the world around them.
  • It’s a time for students to invest in themselves. It is dedicated time for students to engage in personal and professional development, particularly networking, public speaking, active listening, and confidence building.
