Our Elections Intern will assist the SEC’s Executive Team with a variety of administrative, operational, and programmatic activities, including support for election operations and limited legislative tracking during the South Carolina legislative session.
Responsibilities:
- Administrative Support: Provide day-to-day administrative support to agency staff, including organizing files, maintaining records, scheduling, and assisting with general office operations.
- Research and Data Support: Conduct basic research and assist with compiling information related to election operations, voter services, and agency initiatives.
- Communication Support: Assist in drafting correspondence, reports, and internal materials. Support phone and front desk operations by taking, documenting, and relaying messages as needed.
- Legislative Tracking (Seasonal): Monitor and summarize legislative activity during the South Carolina legislative session, including tracking bills and maintaining updated legislator contact information.
- Database Management: Maintain and update internal databases, contact lists, and tracking systems to ensure accuracy and accessibility of information.
- Program & Operations Support: Assist with preparation for trainings, meetings, and events, including assembling materials and supporting coordination efforts.
- Other Duties as Assigned
Qualifications:
- Education: Currently enrolled in a degree program in political science, public policy, international relations, or a related field.
- Skills: Strong research, writing, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. The ability to work in a team setting and collaborate with others.
- Knowledge: Understanding of the legislative process and current political issues is preferred.
