Cassia, is currently seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Diversity and Inclusion Intern to join our team for the summer! In this role, you will make a big impact on our organization as we seek ways to support our international nurses and other culturally diverse team members as they provide care and support for older adults. With this internship, you will have the opportunity to collaboratively create a resource-toolbox for our senior living sites to enable them to bridge cultural gaps that often are perceived as barriers between our residents as well as other staff.
The goals is to create a toolbox of training, one-on-one conversation talking points, group activities and more for all involved in our community, including:
- Talking points for conversations with residents at different cognitive levels
- Talking points for conversations with families
- A menu of resident care plan type intervention options that could be used
- Small group programing/training for resident/family councils
- Town Hall or other group diversity training for team members
- Activities and events to help educate and personalize other cultures and differences for residents and team members
- Training and equipping for team members on how to respond and redirect residents on cultural diversity topics
We are looking for someone who is eager to learn and help enrich the lives of others! Our ideal candidate is currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, social services, health care administration, nursing or a related field.
The internship wage is $20.00 per hour. This is a Part-Time or Full-Time internship with flexible hours starting in May/June and lasting 8-12 weeks depending on hours per week. This position will be located on-site at our home office in Edina, which includes outreach to our senior living communities via zoom or in-person.
Intern requirements:
- Preference given to those pursuing a 4-year degree in the fields noted; a minimum of junior year status for Fall 2024.
- Creative, strategic project management required.
- Leadership experience is a plus.
- Interest in serving and supporting older adults, including respect for their perspective
- Ability to collaborate with a variety of people, departments, and communities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in all aspects of job responsibilities.
- Ability to take initiative.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Intermediate level skills for PowerPoint, MS Office, and Outlook email and calendar.
- Knowledge of Canva, Adobe, or other graphics software is a plus.
